FAQs
What do I do now?
The first step if you feel you would like to work with me is to get in contact. You can do this by either sending an email to counsellingwithkirsti@gmail.com or filing out the contact from on the contact page.
I will then email you and we will take it from there.
Where are you based?
My practice rooms are in central London and Cheltenham should you wish for us to meet in person.
Can we meet online?
Yes, it is possible for us to meet online. The platform I use is zoom.
Is it possible to meet for couples sessions online?
Yes, it is possible for us to meet online. The platform I use is zoom.
Can couples counselling help if we haven’t been together very long?
Yes, what I am noticing more and more, is that couples who are newly together are actually seeking couples counselling. This is more as a way to help fortify and future proof their relationship. Finding ways to communicate differently ahead of conflict and crises.
Do you work with other forms of Relationship?
Yes, I can work with you to support any relationships including parental, sibling, and in the work environment.
What are your fees?
Fees vary depending on location and this we will be able to discuss in our initial session.
How do I make payments?
Payments are made ahead of our session via bank transfer.
What if I can’t make a session?
My cancellation policy is 48hrs notice. Less than 48hrs notice and the session fee is still payable.
Is there a number of sessions that I need to commit to?
My recommendation is that we commit to 6 sessions before reviewing. This is so that we have the opportunity to build the therapeutic relationship.
With couples sessions I recommend a commitment of 6 sessions. Learning to communicate in a different way takes time and knowing that we have time together helps build the sense of connection and space.
Counselling and Supervision Privacy Notice
In line with European General Data Protection Regulations(2018), and as a professional registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office, I am obliged to share the following information regarding how your data is protected:
What information do I hold?
As a Counsellor and Supervisor in private practice I collect the following information: client/supervisee name, phone number and email address/postal address.
In contacting me either via email, text or ringing you are giving me your contact information so that we may be able to communicate in relation to working together.
What I do with your information?
The information you give me when we contract to work together is stored securely as a paper record. Names of current clients/supervisees are stored securely and separate from any written notes. Phone numbers of current clients/supervisees are stored on my telephone, which is password protected. Paper records are kept in a locked cabinet. I hold client/supervisee notes for the duration of our work together. At the end of our work together notes are securely destroyed. The only exception to this would be if there is a safeguarding issue, in this instance a paper copy would be stored securely for a mutually agreed time or up to 3 years if counselling/supervision came to an ending abruptly. My aim would be that you and I would discuss and agree this directly. These notes will be stored in a locked filing cabinet and will be stored with your knowledge and consent.
I keep anonymised very brief hand-written session notes, more as 'memory jogger' and keeping note of important information. Notes are kept in a separate file from any other data i.e. contact details.
I will use your phone number, email address to contact you regarding appointments and invoicing, and to reply to you if/when you contact me. I will not share your data with a third party unless you ask me to, or unless obliged to by a court of law or unless there is a serious risk of harm to you or another person. In this unlikely event I would aim to inform you first.
As part of my professional practice and as a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) I am required to have Supervision and Supervisory Supervision. This is to comply with good practice and any client/supervisee material brought to supervision is anonymised.
Please feel free to ask any questions in relation to GDPR and I will aim to clarify as best I can.
